Job summary

Gearing Recruitment Solutions Ltd is seeking an experienced Pre-Construction Manager to lead and coordinate early-stage project activities in the Southern and South East water regions. You will align estimating, commercial, design, engineering and delivery teams to develop opportunities for construction readiness.

The role requires strong organisation, independent ownership, and the ability to drive teams through the pre-construction lifecycle from opportunity to handover into delivery.

Qualifications

• Experience within UK water or wastewater industry.
• Experience on water treatment, wastewater treatment, pumping stations, process, MEICA or civil engineering projects.
• Experience as a Pre-Construction Manager, Project Manager or similar.
• Strong understanding of how water projects progress from opportunity/design through estimating and commercial review into construction.
• Ability to drive estimating and commercial teams and challenge missed deadlines.
• Excellent organisation, planning and coordination skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate pre-construction kick-off meetings for new projects and opportunities.
• Establish clear actions, responsibilities, deadlines and deliverables across the pre-construction team.
• Drive input from estimating, commercial, design, engineering, procurement and operational teams.
• Challenge and push internal stakeholders to ensure estimates, commercial reviews, designs and submissions are completed to programme.
• Develop and maintain pre-construction programmes and trackers.
• Coordinate project reviews and ensure actions are followed through to completion.
• Identify and manage risks during the pre-construction phase.
• Ensure constructability and delivery considerations are incorporated early in project development.
• Support procurement and supply-chain engagement where required.
• Maintain clear communication between pre-construction and operational teams.
• Ensure projects have a structured handover into construction/delivery phase.
• Support multiple projects across the Southern and South East water regions.

Pre-Construction Manager / Pre-Construction Project Manager - Water Industry

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Pre-Construction Manager to support the delivery of water and wastewater projects across the South and South East.

Sitting beneath the senior operational lead, you will take ownership of projects during the pre-construction phase, bringing together estimating, commercial, design, engineering and delivery teams to ensure opportunities are properly developed and ready to move into construction.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate pre-construction kick-off meetings for new projects and opportunities.

What We're Looking For

The key requirement is someone who is highly organised and comfortable taking ownership.

• Previous experience within the UK water or wastewater industry.


• Experience working on water treatment, wastewater treatment, pumping stations, process, MEICA or associated civil engineering projects.


• Experience as a Pre-Construction Manager, Project Manager, Senior Project Manager, Bid Manager or similar.


• Strong understanding of how water projects progress from initial opportunity/design through estimating and commercial review into construction.


• The confidence to drive estimating and commercial teams and challenge missed deadlines.


• Excellent organisation, planning and coordination skills.


• Strong stakeholder and meeting-management skills.


• An understanding of project risk, programme, cost and constructability.


• Ability to manage several projects or workstreams concurrently.
