Role - Pre-Construction Manager Location - London Purpose of the role:
- Coordinate operational input into the pre-contract phase to ensure robust target costs, risk register, and delivery plan.
- Maximize project profitability up to the substantial completion of detailed design and major subcontract placement.
- Ensure a comprehensive delivery plan is in place for all site-based stages before work begins.
Key Accountabilities:
- Manage interface between pre-con, design, commercial, matrix, and delivery functions to meet targets.
- Act as Design Management Lead (DML) under our Business Management System (BMS).
- Develop systems and processes for effective coordination across all stakeholders to ensure cost-efficient delivery of Civil and MEICA elements.
- Engage in pre-contract award activities, providing operational input for seamless transition to the operational team.
- Manage detailed design and procurement phases to achieve client approval and maximize savings.
- Ensure quality of design deliverables aligns with program requirements and proactively expedite their delivery.
- Coordinate advanced site activities to support design and delivery planning.
- Implement change control systems to manage project changes efficiently.
- Operate rigorous change control procedures and resolve technical queries effectively.
- Maximize procurement opportunities through strategic buying and early package preparation.
- Participate in client framework supplier selection and challenge constraints.
- Develop project delivery and procurement schedules, considering buildability and temporary works.
- Provide technical interface with the client for Civil and MEICA disciplines.
- Coordinate and optimize technical solutions, ensuring compliance with design and regulations.
- Interface with supply chain to ensure accurate scope and robust quotations before contracts are awarded.
- Involve key functions early in the design process to confirm robust solutions and delivery plans.
- Engage with commissioning and asset integration teams during design to develop strategies and plans.
- Report on Civil and MEICA delivery performance, forecasts, and issues to the Risk Manager.
- Maintain a positive focus on client and customer satisfaction.
- Implement and promote quality, safety, and environmental policies and targets.
- Contribute to creating a safe working environment and embed best practices.
- Build a reputation for project delivery excellence, particularly in design and procurement.
- Share best practices and drive continuous improvement.
