Job summary

Appoint Limited is seeking a Senior Pre-Construction Manager to head the pre-construction process for complex civil engineering and infrastructure projects in North London. This office-based senior role covers tendering, ECI through to contract award and handover.

The successful candidate will combine strong operational construction experience with tendering, design development and multidisciplinary team leadership, including reinforced concrete, drainage and groundwork expertise.

Responsibilities

• Lead pre-construction activities across tender, ECI and PCSA stages.
• Coordinate estimating, planning, design, commercial and operational teams.

• Review project requirements, identify risks and assess buildability.
• Lead design coordination, value engineering and tender review meetings.
• Engage with clients, consultants, subcontractors and supply chain partners.
• Manage technical and commercial interfaces throughout the pre-construction process.
• Oversee the transition from successful tender through to project delivery.

The Opportunity

Appoint is recruiting an experienced Pre-Construction Manager to join an established civil engineering contractor based in North London.

This is a senior, office-based opportunity to lead the pre-construction process across complex civil engineering and infrastructure projects, from initial tender and Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) through to contract award and handover.

We're particularly interested in candidates who combine a strong operational construction background with experience of managing tenders, technical proposals, design development and multidisciplinary teams.

Experience of reinforced concrete works, drainage and groundworks will be particularly important.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead pre-construction activities across tender, ECI and PCSA stages.

Experience & Requirements

• Strong background working for a UK civil engineering contractor.
• Previous experience in pre-construction management or a senior operational role with significant pre-construction involvement.
• Proven experience of reinforced concrete works, drainage and groundworks.
• Good understanding of tendering, ECI, design coordination and construction methodologies.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage complex technical requirements.
• Strong commercial awareness and client-facing communication skills.
• Experience delivering substantial civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
