Our Commercial & Industrial division designs, fabricates and constructs structural steelwork for a variety of different sectors including commercial offices, stadia & leisure, industrial & distribution, data centres, retail and health and education.
The division has manufacturing sites in three locations: Dalton, Lostock, and Enniskillen. Each has full-service capabilities and modern manufacturing processes enabling us to provide a high-quality product to a variety of different sectors. Each of our sites has its own strong reputation in the market and between them cover a wider geographical area, including Europe. They continue to set the bar high in their highly complex market!
Vacancy Details
As a Pre-Construction Manager, you will take a key position in identifying and securing new business opportunities by actively engaging with Contractors, Developers, and Engineers. Working closely with our Estimating and Sales teams, you’ll be on the road building strong client relationships, identifying upcoming projects, and helping shape tender strategies to secure future work.
This role blends sales acumen, technical expertise, and industry insight to drive growth and deliver value to our clients.
Other Responsibilities Will Include But Are Not Limited To
- Develop and maintain a strong pipeline of future projects through client engagement and market intelligence.
- Identify new business opportunities and convert leads into secured contracts.
- Collaborate closely with Estimating, Design, and Construction teams to prepare competitive tenders.
- Support the bid process and assist in post-tender negotiations.
- Analyse tender feedback and industry trends to refine pricing strategies.
- Maintain and grow relationships with key clients, developers, consultants, and engineers.
- Monitor and track tender progress and contribute to strategic decision-making on prioritisation.
- Develop and maintain corporate entertainment strategy focused on developing client relationships
- Provide clear, concise reports on business development activity and market movement.
- Ensure Severfield remains commercially competitive by reviewing pre- and post-contract conditions.
Key Skills & Experience
We are looking for someone with a proven experience in a construction or engineering industry, ideally with a structural steel background. A degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying or construction would desirable.
As well as;
- Strong knowledge of estimating and tender processes, including material take-offs, pricing, and contract review.
- Exceptional interpersonal, organisational, and communication skills.
- A self-starter with high attention to detail and a drive to succeed.
- Full UK driving licence (required for travel to client sites and meetings).
