Job summary

Mixxos Group is seeking a detail-oriented Pre-Construction Manager/Estimator in Bedford to own the preconstruction phase from concept to handover. You will bridge client needs, design intent and feasible solutions, and collaborate with clients, sub-contractors, suppliers and internal teams.

The role requires proven estimating experience, strong commercial awareness and a methodical approach. This permanent, office-based position offers up to £50,000 per annum and a 40-hour week.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a construction estimator within the commercial sector.
• HNC/HND in Construction and the Built Environment, or equivalent.
• Experience with estimating and the full tender submission process.
• Excellent communication skills and IT literacy for estimating systems.

Responsibilities

• Analyse and interpret project information to inform accurate estimates and proposals.
• Prepare estimates and bid proposals on commercial construction projects for work values up to £3m.
• Accurately calculate take-offs from drawings, including labour and materials.
• Understand and apply the planning and sequencing of construction projects.
• Communicate with clients to clarify unclear specifications and wording through RFIs.
• Coordinate with sub-contractors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing for bid submissions.
• Participate in site reviews, tender reviews, tender hand-overs, and project close-out meetings as needed.
• Use an in-house pricing and quoting system to deliver accurate estimates.
• Undertake site surveys and attend site visits as required.
• Support the business unit lead and report back on progress weekly.
