About the role

Become part of the first new nuclear power station to be built in the UK in over 20 years! Join our Balfour Beatty Kilpatrick team as a HVAC Pre Construction Engineer on the Hinkley Point Project and develop your career with this exciting project.

About Hinkley Point C

The first new nuclear power station in the UK in over 20 years, Hinkley Point C in Somerset will provide low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes, create thousands of jobs, and bring lasting benefits to the UK economy.

Marking a significant milestone in revitalising the nuclear power industry, Hinkley Point C will significantly contribute to the UK's efforts to reduce carbon emissions. Its two EPR reactors will offset approximately 9 million tonnes of CO2 emissions annually.

What you'll be doing

This role will be 90% office-based and 10% site-based, with the possibility of working from home once a week on Fridays.

  1. Ultimately accountable for delivering Discipline Specific Construction Work Packs and recording work information in AS9 used for installation preparation.
  2. Deliver Mechanical & Piping Construction Work Packs to support the MEH Alliance programme.
  3. Identify available Workfront for the discipline through detailed constructability reviews and installation schedules.
  4. Identify key materials needed to unlock additional installation; request temporary devices when required and progress enablers to deliver Construction Work Packs.
  5. Request topographical and other surveying needed to support MEH Alliance construction works.
  6. Ensure documents comply with latest work information and MEH documentation; request clarifications or propose changes as needed.
  7. Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance processes and procedures.
  8. Ensure compliance with all nuclear safety and site licensing requirements.

Who we're looking for

  • Degree qualification or equivalent vocational training, or experience in installing HVAC Systems.
  • Proven experience working in a highly regulated sector, preferably nuclear.
  • Experience in major construction projects.
  • Experience at Engineer or Senior Engineer level.
  • Ability to achieve Security Clearance (BPSS or higher).
