Watkin Jones Group, the UK's leading developer, builder, and manager of rental homes, is on the lookout for a Pre-Construction Commercial Manager to join our dynamic Commercial team. Established in 1791, we've been building homes since 1927 and listed on the AIM market in 2016. With over 52,000 homes developed across 135 schemes and Fresh managing GBP1.7bn of assets, we have unique insight into tenant and investor desires.

The Role:

As a Pre-Construction Commercial Manager, you ll be at the heart of our Delivery function, analysing cost plans and producing cost-effective estimates for various developments. This is a new role, offering a unique opportunity to make your mark and become a key player in our Commercial team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cost Analysis: Evaluate cost plans produced by Costing Managers to ensure estimates meet business needs.
  • Budget Development: Collaborate with team members to align budgets with build strategies.
  • Tender Preparation: Prepare take-offs, Bills of Quantities, and tender adjudication packs. Present tender basis, key assumptions, and identify risks and opportunities.
  • Cross-functional Liaison: Work with various Watkin Jones departments to review drawings, specifications, and client requirements, ensuring compliance with BSI/ISO building regulations.

About You:

We re looking for a confident, experienced estimator with a thorough understanding of the estimating process from start to finish. You should have:

  • Strong knowledge of estimating software packages.
  • Excellent communication skills for liaising with different business areas.
  • A keen eye for detail and a strategic mindset.
