A prominent healthcare provider in Bulwell is seeking a Practitioner Psychologist (Clinical, Forensic or Counselling) to work half time with a male population at Highbury Hospital. Candidates must be highly motivated and able to work independently with complex cases. This role offers a structured pathway for career development and emphasizes Continuing Professional Development. Applicants must be registered or eligible for registration with the Health and Care Professions Council. Travel is necessary, and applicants will cover their DBS check costs.
The post holder will be based at Highbury Hospital, Bulwell Nottingham, providing input to Rowan 1 ward, working half time with a male population. A team of Qualified, Assistant, Clinical Associate, and Trainee Psychologists will offer professional support and additional clinical resources. These posts are suitable for recently qualified individuals or those with some experience. We welcome applications from current third-year trainees aiming to develop to Band 8a within 12-18 months through structured preceptorship and ongoing professional development. The successful applicant will join an established, friendly, and supportive group working across inpatient wards in Nottinghamshire. The post is line managed within the profession, with clinical supervision provided by a senior psychologist. Flexibility for supervision and specialist input across Mid Notts and Highbury wards may be required. All posts emphasize Continuing Professional Development, with monthly departmental meetings for networking, peer support, and consistency across the Care Unit, trust-wide. Our services include inpatient, Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment (CRHT), and Rehab psychology, with ten qualified psychologist positions. We have strong links with DClinPsych courses at Nottingham/Lincoln (Trent), Leicester, and Sheffield, offering teaching and placement opportunities. The Adult Mental Health Acute Care Unit serves the City (Highbury Hospital) and Mid and North Notts (Sherwood Oaks Hospital). The area has excellent transport links to the UK, Nottingham, Derby, Leicester, and Sheffield. AMH is a network of Practitioner Psychologists and Psychotherapists focused on therapeutic interventions for a complex client base, supporting recovery through least restrictive practices. Family and carer engagement is essential as we improve support, communication, and involvement of unpaid carers, families, friends, and siblings. The successful applicant must be highly motivated, capable of working independently with complex cases, and registered or eligible for registration with the Health and Care Professions Council. The role involves travel, and applicants will need to pay for their DBS check, with costs deducted from salary (£26.40 standard or £54.40 enhanced). Enrollment in the DBS Update Service is encouraged, with an annual fee of £16.
