Job Description:

Introduction

Are you an experienced Psychologist looking to take the next step in your career? Join Chadwick Lodge in Milton Keynes. This is an opportunity to change lives for the better and help some of the most vulnerable people in society.

This is a unique opportunity to be involved in a pilot service implementing Trauma Informed Care and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) with women who have complex needs. The aim is to evaluate the effectiveness of CFT in a female forensic service and, if successful, replicate it in other settings requiring a trauma-informed approach. There will be opportunities to engage in research, with links to Birmingham and Nottingham Universities.

You will be a qualified HCPC Registered Practitioner Psychologist within our 39-bed female forensic service, which includes medium and low secure care. You will join a friendly, supportive team of qualified, in-training, and Assistant Psychologists trained in various psychological frameworks.

Ideally, you will have at least 2 years post-qualification experience supervising others and working with forensic clients. This role is suitable if you are seeking a senior position and are interested in developing the CFT pathway. Training in CFT will be provided if not already obtained. Other treatment models used include CBT, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, DBT, and EMDR.

This is an on-site, full-time position (37.5 hours/week), but part-time or flexible arrangements will be considered.

As a Psychologist, your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing a caseload of clinical work, including assessments and interventions, and developing formulations.
  • Providing specialist clinical advice and developing, implementing, and evaluating care programs.
  • Participating in meetings to contribute to clinical care and liaising with external professionals as part of the MDT/CPA process.
  • Leading in risk assessment and management for patients.
  • Facilitating reflective practice and debrief sessions.
  • Supervising junior staff, including trainees and assistants.
  • Maintaining high standards of governance, ethics, and data protection.

Requirements:

  • BPS-recognized psychology degree
  • HCPC registration
  • Chartered Psychologist status with postgraduate qualifications
  • Approved supervisor status with BPS
  • Experience in evidence-based psychological practice
  • Experience with forensic/clinical populations, including clients with cognitive deficits
  • Research and project experience

Work location:

Buckinghamshire, MK6 5LS. The role is based at Chadwick Lodge and Eaglestone View, providing specialist forensic mental health services.

Benefits include:

  • Salary of £51,000-£58,000 DOE
  • 33 days annual leave plus your birthday off
  • Free meals and parking
  • Wellbeing support, career development, pension, life assurance, enhanced maternity packages, and other benefits.
