A leading community-based service is seeking an enthusiastic Practitioner Psychologist to join their East Sussex team. This role requires expertise in providing high-quality psychological support to children with learning disabilities, developing innovative approaches, and collaborating within a multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will benefit from structured CPD and supervision within a friendly atmosphere.
We are looking for an enthusiastic Practitioner Psychologist to join the East Sussex specialist CAMHS Learning Disability Family Intensive Support Service. You will work creatively within a wide range of approaches including Systemic, Positive Behaviour Support, Functional Analysis, Attachment theory, Mindfulness-based approaches and the Family Partnership Model and have the opportunity to develop new models of working too.
The key components of the job will be to provide:
- a high-quality community-based service to children with learning disabilities and their families, carers and networks.
- specialist psychological assessments, formulation and multi-disciplinary interventions for children presenting with challenging behaviours, including facilitating parent groups.
- supervision of undergraduate psychology students, assistant psychologist and trainee psychologists.
- psychological support and reflective space to other colleagues in the team.
- consultation and training to other agencies and services working with children with learning disabilities.
We are a friendly, innovative, award-winning, multi-disciplinary community team working with families whose children, including looked after children, have moderate to severe learning disabilities with significant psychological, behavioural and communication difficulties. The team is comprised of Clinical Psychologists, Speech and Language Therapists, Family Support Practitioners, Specialist Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner, Consultant Psychiatrist, Clinical Nurse Specialist and Occupational Therapist.
We are a community rather than clinic based service so your work will take place in a variety of settings including in family homes, schools, respite services and the wider community including in woodlands as part of our award winning Woodland Project.

The post is based in Hailsham at the team office but as we cover the whole of East Sussex you will be required to travel between sites.
You will need to have experience of at least one of the following:
working with children/young people with learning disabilities
working with children/young people with Autism
working with Looked After children
working in a CAMHS setting
working with adults with a learning disability
working at a range of levels including direct work with children/young people, parents and carers
.
You will be supported within the team by experienced clinical psychologists and will work closely with other specialists within the service, CAMHS and universal childrens services. As a member of the psychological professions workforce you will be able to access additional CPD.
