Our Fourteen Plus Team in the Vale of Glamorgan is seeking a Practitioner Manager.

Our team supports young people aged 14 and over who are looked after by the Local Authority, homeless young people aged 16-17, care leavers up to 25, and Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children. We focus on engagement and our bespoke ‘Building on Strengths’ approach, which recognizes the expertise of children, families, and workers, emphasizing relationships.

You should understand the needs of children in care and be able to supervise staff. Our team is welcoming, warm, and dedicated to achieving the best outcomes for children.

About the role

The salary will depend on qualifications and experience. The role involves working 37 hours per week, with flexible working options considered. The main place of work is Docks Office/Agile Working.

Description:

As a Practitioner Manager, you will shape the future of our children and team. Your responsibilities include:

  • Providing social work services to children, young people, and families
  • Collaborating with agencies for comprehensive support
  • Adhering to legislation, policies, and processes
  • Supervising social work staff, offering guidance and mentorship
  • Deputising for the Team Manager when needed

About you

You will need:

  • Warm, kind, committed to making a positive impact
  • Proven effective practice, experience, and supervision in Children’s Social Services
  • Understanding of good practice with children, families, and carers, especially those in care
  • Experience supervising others and relationship-based practice
  • Experience with Wales Safeguarding Procedures and partnership working
