A local educational authority in Dunrossness is seeking a Play Practitioner to support the delivery of high-quality education and care services in a stimulating environment. The role is part-time, temporary for approximately 6 months, requiring experience in childcare settings and an understanding of relevant guidelines. The successful candidate will work collaboratively and contribute to the caring ethos of the school.
The purpose of this post is to work effectively as a lead member of a team to support in the delivery of a high quality, safe and balanced education and care service, which meets the needs of each child and their families and is in accordance with relevant legislation and guidelines including Roles and Responsibilities Framework of the Scottish Social Service Council for the Childcare Workforce.
The Play Practitioner will support the Manager/Lead Practitioner (Early Learning & Childcare and Out of School Club) in developing a stimulating, safe and hygienic environment where mutual trust, respect, confidence and a caring ethos are evident.

Dunrossness Primary School is a non-denominational school located in Dunrossness. It provides nursery to P7 education for children from Sumburgh to Levenwick. The school has an early learning and childcare setting for 3-5 year olds, operating for 8 hours each day, and 4 composite primary classes. There is currently a total of 91 primary pupils and 31 nursery pupils on the roll. The school is managed by a Head Teacher. The current staffing complement is 4.5 teachers, who are assisted by support staff as required to meet school demands. The current Head Teacher is Mrs Louise Leslie.
