The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Assisting with the planning of the curriculum using the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum for guidance.
- Providing continuous provision in all areas of learning by setting up the playroom(s) for the daily programme and helping pack away at the end of the session.
- Initiating small group activities supporting the needs of the individual child.
- Taking on the role of key person to a small group of children, compiling an accurate account of a child's development, liaising closely and building an effective relationship with parents/carers, and ensuring each child's needs are recognised and met.
- Working in partnership with parents/carers and other family members.
- Advising the Pre-school Manager of any concerns, e.g., over children, parents, or the safety of equipment, preserving confidentiality as necessary.
- Teaching children, offering an appropriate level of support and stimulating play experiences.
- Ensuring that children are kept safe and understanding when to follow child protection procedures.
- Supporting meal times within the setting.
- Actively participating at team meetings, supervisor meetings, and appraisal meetings.
- Attending training courses as required and taking responsibility for personal development.
- Adhering to GSC confidentiality policy and all the setting's operational policies and procedures.
- Ensuring that adequate records are kept and updated regularly.
- Promoting the nursery to current parents and potential customers.
- Undertaking any other reasonable duties as directed by the Pre-school Manager.
- Being aware that risk assessment is everyone's business and recording and advising the manager of concerns.
- Working in play sessions for children attending Kids' Club & Holiday Club as directed by the setting manager or the play leader for the session.
- Providing a safe, secure environment where children receive high-quality care that meets their individual needs and expectations and those of the staff, parents, and other stakeholders.
- Giving care and attention to individuals and groups of children and supporting them in appropriate age- and ability-related play and activities for their learning and development.
The ideal candidate will be a Level 3 Practitioner, willing to work 30 hours plus a week, with flexibility to work preschool, afterschool, and holiday hours on a rota basis.
