Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Practice Nurse to cover a 9–12 month temporary role on a part-time basis. The ideal candidate will be confident in chronic disease management, cervical cytology (smears), and vaccinations, working closely with the Lead Nurse and wider clinical team to ensure high-quality patient care.

Main Responsibilities

Provide evidence-based care for patients with chronic conditions (e.g., diabetes, asthma, COPD, hypertension).

  • Perform cervical cytology screening (smears) to national standards.
  • Administer immunisations and vaccinations for all age groups.
  • Offer health promotion and lifestyle advice to support patient wellbeing.
  • Assist with treatment room duties, including wound care, dressings, and ECGs where required.
  • Participate in clinical meetings and support service improvement initiatives.
  • Work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team to ensure continuity of care.
Requirements

Essential:

  • Registered Nurse (NMC) with current PIN.
  • Experience in chronic disease management.
  • Trained and competent in cervical cytology and immunisations.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work flexibly within a busy practice environment.

Desirable:

  • Previous GP practice experience.
  • Familiarity with clinical systems (e.g., EMIS, SystmOne).
