Job summary

City of York Council is seeking a skilled Practice Supervisor to join our Family Help service, leading on practice quality and supporting Lead Practitioners to deliver strengths-based interventions that improve outcomes for children and families.

You will supervise day‑to‑day casework, model excellent direct practice, foster multi‑agency collaboration, and drive reflective supervision to help staff grow and thrive within an ambitious Families First framework.

Qualifications

• Strong experience working with children and families.
• Demonstrates leadership potential and mentoring ability.
• Embraces relational, strengths-based approaches to practice.
• Good understanding of safeguarding, risk and multi‑agency working.

Responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day oversight of cases and guidance to Family Help Lead Practitioners.
• Lead on practice quality, performance, and decision‑making; champion reflective supervision and learning.
• Model excellent direct practice and support complex case work.
• Collaborate with partners to deliver a coordinated, whole‑family response within the Families First framework.
