A leading medical practice in Melksham seeks a dedicated Practice Phlebotomist for 16 hours per week, working collaboratively within a supportive healthcare team. Responsibilities include performing venepuncture and maintaining patient records. This role is crucial in delivering quality care and requires prior experience in healthcare and excellent communication skills.
We have avacancy for a Practice Phlebotomist working 16 hours per week, to be worked 2-3 days by negotiation.
Working under thedirection of the lead nurse and as part of the practice multidisciplinary team,you will be responsible for performing venepuncture, as requested by theclinical team, to the entitled patient population. In addition, thePhlebotomist will be expected to support the nursing team as required.
This is apivotal role in delivering high quality care to our patients. We are looking for a Phlebotomist with aknowledge of working within a general practice environment, to join oursupportive and friendly team.
Your core taskswill be:
Obtaining patient consent for the collection of a blood sample
Performing venepuncture in accordance with practice protocols
Maintaining accurate patient records on TPP Systmone (clinicalsystem name).
The correct labelling, packaging and storing of samples.
Effective use of the specimen log, resolving any discrepancies
Ensuring samples are sent to the laboratory in a timely manner.
Maintaining an effective liaison with the laboratory staff at theRoyal United Hospital
Working collaboratively with the nursing team, seeking guidancewhen necessary for patient related matters

The following are the coreresponsibilities of the Phlebotomist. There may be, on occasion, a requirementto carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workloadand staffing levels:
a.Obtaining patient consent for the collection of a blood sample
b.Performing venepuncture in accordance with practice protocols

In addition to the primaryresponsibilities, the Phlebotomist may be requested to:
a.Participate in practice audit as directed by the Clinical Lead,Nursing
b.Participate in local initiatives to enhance service delivery andpatient care.
c.Support and participate in shared learning within the practice
d.Complete opening and closing procedures in accordance with theduty rota
