Job summary

Bates Wells is seeking a proactive Practice Manager to support our Practice Director in delivering business management across our largest practice groups. You will lead cross-team coordination, onboarding, and process improvements while collaborating with HR and other Business Teams to drive the firm’s budgets and plans.

The role involves secondments, resource-sharing, and regular stakeholder engagement, with a focus on delivering efficient meetings and robust governance within a flexible hybrid

Qualifications

• Experience as a Practice Manager or Practice Advisor in a law firm or professional services environment.
• Proactive self-starter with a can-do attitude.
• Well organised with excellent attention to detail.
• Able to build effective relationships quickly across levels.

Responsibilities

• Support the Practice Director with business management across the firm’s largest practice groups.
• Coordinate meetings, papers and actions to ensure efficient decisions.
• Oversee onboarding, inductions, and collaboration with HR.
• Drive process improvements and support practice group budgets and plans.
• Coordinate resource sharing and monitor utilisation across practice groups.
• Maintain and improve the Practice Management intranet pages.
• Support pro bono strategy development and paralegal resourcing projects.
