A leading healthcare provider is seeking an experienced Practice Nurse to manage the nursing team at its Chippenham location. The role focuses on providing high-quality patient care while promoting the development of nursing skills through supervision and effective team management. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in nursing and leadership, demonstrating excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Job summary
We are looking for an experienced Practice Nurse to take on the lead/manager role here at Hathaway.
The post holder will be required to work as a Practice Nurse, as well as promote health and manage long term conditions, with an interest in respiratory and hypertension.
It is hoped that you would develop the skills of the nursing team through clinical supervision, appraisal, and mentoring. Undertake staff reviews, team meetings, and effective inductions.
Plan, direct, and deliver high-quality person-centred care, whilst promoting and maintaining high nursing standards. Collaborate with the other members of the wider surgery team and PCN. Participate actively in the development of the Surgery.
Ensure compliance within all clinical documentation.
Participate in the long-term planning of patient care; directing and developing staff; collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary professional staff; providing physical and psychological support for patients, friends, and families.
Main duties of the jobPrimary Responsibilities
Identifies patient service requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual patients and other persons in a position to understand service requirements.
Maintains nursing guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures.
Maintains nursing operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures.
Maintains nursing staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training nurses and auxiliary staff.
Completes patient care requirements by scheduling and assigning nursing and staff.
Maintains nursing staff job results by coaching, counselling, and disciplining employees, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
Provides information to patients and health care team by answering questions and requests

Develop and maintain effective communications at all levels throughout the surgery and outside agencies.
Dealing with general enquiries from members of staff, patients, and the public in a polite and helpful manner.
Train all staff in the use of the clinical software and applications we use
Be proactive with respect to personal and professional development and become fully conversant with new developments affecting the role
Be compliant with personal development when training needs have been identified in the surgery
Attend appropriate training courses and develop knowledge and skills in relation to the post (the surgery is committed to providing training and development opportunities for every employee)
Ensure confidentiality is always maintained
Exercise a duty of care for personal health and safety at work and to other employees of the surgery.
Have an awareness and understanding of the surgeries Policies and Procedures.
Undertake any other duties appropriate to the grade, required by the Managers
Be a professional role model
Be responsible for the leadership of the nurse team as a team leader on a daily basis
Ensure the team members are fully aware of their roles and responsibilities.
Undertake appraisals and reviews on a regular basis
Sign off Annual leave and ensure appropriate cover of the department is always maintained with the rota
Attend team leaders meetings and support other team leaders in different departments within the surgery.
Be responsible for Apprentices in your team, teaching and ensuring they reach their training potential
Champion and lead quality improvement initiatives across your immediate team
