Job Summary

If so, we are looking for a part time (30 hours) Practice Nurse who is able to do chronic disease reviews.

This is a varied and interesting role and you'll be joining a friendly, supportive and hardworking team who prides themselves on providing an excellent customer service to our patients.

We would love to find someone who is great with people, has excellent communication skills, a cheerful disposition, and a friendly, caring personality. Good IT skills are a must.

Main duties of the job

To provide care for long term conditions such as Asthma, COPD, Diabetes or Hypertension. It is expected that the successful applicant will be responsible for at least one area of long-term condition care.

To offer general practice nurse duties including wound management, cervical cytology, ECGs, dopplers, childhood immunisations, travel vaccinations and immunisation clinics to protect patients against influenza, pneumonia, shingles, covid etc

ACCOUNTABLE TO: Nursing Lead GP Partner

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Management of chronic diseases, taking the lead in at least one area of chronic disease management, to encourage patients to achieve a good quality of life and to meet QoF requirements.

BASIC NURSING PROCEDURES

Dressing and wound management. Scalds and burns management. Leg ulcer care and management.

Suture and clip removal.

Minor injuries e.g. sprains, bruising, cuts, grazes etc.

Management of skin disorders.

Venepuncture.

Testing pathology samples e.g. blood, urine.

Undertake cytology screening.

Ear syringing, blood pressure and weight management.

Aid/chaperone to GP during clinical procedures, e.g. minor operations etc.

Specimen collection e.g. msu, pregnancy tests, faeces for O&S, sputum, etc.

Putting labels on samples, form filling and ensuring timely preparation of specimens for collection to laboratory.

General observations e.g. BP, pulse and temperature.

Use and care of ECG machine

Use and care of the doppler machine

Use and care of nebulisers.

Ensure the maintenance of stock levels in the Treatment Room relating to patient care including medications, vaccinations and dressings.
