Job summary

Locum Ready is recruiting a Locum Practice Nurse to support a GP practice in Warwick. The role emphasises accurate chronic disease reviews, wound care, immunisations where trained, and efficient treatment room procedures within a structured primary care setting.

You will contribute to high-quality patient care through clinical reviews, preventative health work and timely clinic delivery, with regular or ad-hoc sessions and morning/afternoon availability.

Qualifications

• NMC-registered nurse with primary care experience.
• Up-to-date immunisation training desirable and cytology training optional.
• Confident in chronic disease management and treatment room work.
• Good patient communication and clinical reasoning.

Responsibilities

• Conduct chronic disease reviews for asthma, COPD, diabetes or hypertension.
• Perform wound care, dressings and treatment room duties.
• Carry out immunisations (if trained).
• Undertake smear tests (cytology-trained).
• Complete NHS Health Checks and lifestyle assessments.
• Manage results, recalls and routine follow-up tasks.
• Document clearly in the clinical system.

This role is ideal for a Practice Nurse with strong assessment skills who can confidently deliver chronic disease reviews, treatment room procedures and routine nursing clinics in a structured primary care environment.

You will contribute to high-quality patient care through a balance of clinical reviews, preventative health work and treatment room activity. The practice offers well-organised workflows, supportive nursing leadership and a clear structure for daily clinic delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Conducting chronic disease reviews for patients with asthma, COPD, diabetes or hypertension
• Performing wound care, dressings and treatment room duties
• Carrying out adult and children’s immunisations (if trained)
• Undertaking smear tests (cytology-trained nurses)
• Completing NHS Health Checks and lifestyle assessments
• Managing results, recalls and routine follow-up tasks
• Documenting clearly in the clinical system

Requirements

• NMC-registered Nurse with experience in primary care
• Up-to-date immunisation and cytology training desirable

• Familiarity with EMIS, SystmOne or Vision
• Enhanced DBS
