A healthcare organization in Uttlesford is seeking an experienced Practice Nurse to join their team. The role involves delivering high-quality nursing care, managing chronic conditions, and supporting health promotion initiatives. Ideal candidates should be NMC registered and have experience in a primary care setting. The organization values professional development and offers a collaborative work environment.
Ideally, we are looking for a minimum of 30 hours a week.Salary will depend on experience.
The successful candidate will be NMC registered and becomfortable working within your own competencies and professional code ofconduct as regulated by the NMC. In addition, you will ideally have experienceof working within a GP practice setting and have the ability to alwaysprioritise and manage your own workload and promoting safety with excellentpatient care. We would like applicants to provide details of any trainingcourses done post registration e.g. Diabetes, asthma, contraception, cytology.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in routine tasks such as cytology, wound care, removalof sutures, urinalysis, travel clinic, contraception reviews, routine andchildhood immunisations, and chaperoning.
Request pathology tests (urine culture, swabs, blood tests).
Long term Condition Management
Clinical Tasks:
Follow agreed clinical protocols with referral to seniornurses or GPs as appropriate.
Maintain and clean equipment used by nurses and GPs.
Maintain GP and nurses' rooms, stock and rotate items asrequired.
Maintain accurate records of mandatory checks.
Order vaccinations to maintain stock levels.
Support and mentor junior nursing team members andparticipate in the surgerys ethos of supporting nurses in training.
Participate in administrative systems in the practice.
Attend and participate in practice meetings.
Undertake home visits if required
Perform any other delegated duties appropriate to the post.

Key ResponsibilitiesClinical DutiesProvide professional, evidence-based nursing care including:
Wound care and dressings
Childhood and adult immunisations
Travel health advice and vaccinations
Cervical cytology (smear testing)
Contraceptive injections (if trained)
Manage and support patients with long-term conditions such as:
Asthma and COPD (including annual reviews and spirometry)
Diabetes
Hypertension
Coronary heart disease
Undertake NHS Health Checks and other screening as required.
Support QOF (Quality and Outcomes Framework) and Enhanced Services targets through clinical input and patient follow-up.
Support infection control and maintain clinical standards in line with CQC expectations.
Maintain accurate clinical records using EMIS / SystmOne (or local clinical system).
Participate in audits, significant event reviews, and clinical governance.
Contribute to the development and review of practice protocols and procedures.
Liaise effectively with the wider primary care team, including PCN colleagues.
Attend and contribute to practice meetings, clinical supervision, and training.
NMC-registered Registered General Nurse (RGN).
Experience of working in a primary care or community setting.
Competent in chronic disease management and immunisation programmes.
Excellent communication, organisation, and clinical decision-making skills.
Cervical cytology training and current update.
Knowledge of QOF, Local Enhanced Services, and NHS frameworks.
Asthma/COPD/Diabetes diploma or equivalent qualifications.
Mentorship or teaching qualification.

Proactive and able to work independently and within a team.
Committed to ongoing professional development and reflective practice.
Flexible and able to adapt to the changing needs of general practice.
