Job description

Marriott's Medical Practices have an opening for 1 enthusiastic and motivated practice nurse to join our friendly and supportive nursing team at Taverham Surgery on a full-time basis (37 hours per week).

About us

Marriott's Medical Practices comprises two surgeries: Bacon Road Surgery and Taverham Surgery (a dispensing practice), serving over 13,000 patients. We are a training practice working closely with UEA, teaching 1st, 2nd, and 4th-year medical students.

Our nursing team is led by a Nurse Manager who provides support and conducts induction training for new staff.

Job responsibilities

You will be part of the primary healthcare team delivering personal medical services to patients. Main duties include:

  1. Performing routine patient care tasks such as cytology, wound care, suture removal, medicals, urinalysis, ECGs, spirometry, venepuncture, hypertension management, and immunisations.
  2. Chaperoning and assisting patients during examinations.
  3. Assisting GPs with minor surgeries and coil fittings.
  4. Providing contraception services.
  5. Requesting pathology tests like urine cultures and swabs.
  6. Having an interest in Diabetes, Coronary Heart Disease, or Asthma.
  7. Following clinical protocols with appropriate referrals.
  8. Maintaining and cleaning medical equipment.
  9. Managing room tidiness and stock levels.
  10. Participating in administrative tasks and maintaining accurate records.
  11. Reporting potential issues to senior staff.
  12. Attending practice meetings and participating in research projects.
  13. Contributing to education and training, including staff induction.
  14. Performing any other delegated duties suitable to the role.
Person Specification
Qualifications
  • Current NMC registration with active PIN.
  • Qualification in Cervical Screening/Women's Health.
Experience
  • Experience working in general practice.
  • Ability to travel between Taverham and Bacon Road sites.
  • Experience in wound care, venepuncture, contraception, INR management (INRstar), and using the SystmOne clinical system.
