Job summary

Emmer Green Surgery is seeking a Practice Nurse to join the general practice nursing team. Qualifications

• Registered nurse with current UK NMC registration.

Responsibilities

• Provide routine nursing care within the treatment room.
• Identify, manage and support patients at risk of long-term conditions.
• Develop and embed health promotion and wellbeing programmes.
• Administer injections under PGDs and PSDs.
• Request pathology services and process results.
• Maintain accurate clinical records using Read codes.
• Carry out new patient health checks and NHS health screening checks.
• Participate in national immunisation and screening programmes.
• Comply with QOF, enhanced services and medicines management initiatives.
• Prepare and maintain treatment environments and equipment.
• Support and guide healthcare assistants.
• Assist GPs with procedures and chaperone for intimate examinations.

A Practice Nurse post in the general practice nursing team at Emmer Green Surgery, a practice of about 12,000 patients with two practice nurses, an Advanced Nurse Practitioner and three healthcare assistants and phlebotomists. The work centres on treatment room care and managing patients with long-term conditions, including injections under patient group directions, pathology requests and NHS health checks. Hours are negotiable from a minimum of 26.5 a week, and newly qualified nurses are considered, with further training offered. Current UK professional registration as a registered nurse is required.

What the job involves
