We are a large forward thinking, innovative, training practice based in Middlesbrough and are looking for an experienced Practice Nurse to join our primary health care team.

Our clinical team consists of GP Partners, Salaried GPs, Trainee GPs, Advanced Nurse Practitioner, Practice Nurses, Health Care Assistants and Phlebotomists.

We are a large GP practice in Middlesbrough with 9 GP partners, 5 salaried GPs, 1 NursePractitioner, 4 Practice Nurses, 2 HCAs, 2 phlebotomists. We have a superb group of highly committed and enthusiasticadministrative and reception staff.

Our practice is part of Holgate Primary Care Network who support our practice, with roles including physiotherapy, pharmacists, mental health practitioners and our centralised urgent care hub team.

We're situated close to the town centrewith a list size of over 20,000 patients and operate from purpose built premises inLinthorpe and a branch surgery situated in the North Ormesby Health Village.

Job responsibilities

Job summary:

The practice nurse will work as part of the primary healthcare teamproviding Personal Medical Services to the patients of the practice.

Job responsibilities:

  • Assist in and perform routinetasks related to patient care as directed by senior nursing staff and GPs
  • Provision of chronic disease management clinics
  • Cytology
  • Removal of Sutures
  • ECGs
  • Venepuncture
  • Provision of general nursingduties, e.g. dressings, ear syringing, etc.
  • Routine immunisations / Childhoodimmunisations
  • Assisting GPs with minor surgery
  • Requesting pathology tests, forexample urine culture, swabs
  • Contraception
  • Following agreed clinicalprotocols with referral to nurse manager or GPs as appropriate
  • Maintaining and cleaningequipment used by the nurses
  • Chaperoning and assistingpatients who are being examined by another clinician.
  • Maintain general tidiness andcleanliness of room
  • Ordering of Health PromotionLiterature
  • Participation in administrativesystems in the Practice
  • At all times there will be a needto maintain accurate records
  • A duty to advise senior nurses ofpotential problems or errors within the range of assigned tasks
  • Attend and participate in anymeetings when required.
