A healthcare provider in Hull is seeking an enthusiastic part-time Practice Nurse with strong skills in chronic disease management and experience in a GP practice. The ideal candidate will work within a multi-disciplinary team, participating in patient care, health promotion, and education. Registration as a first-level nurse is essential along with evidence of competencies in diabetes management and immunisation practices. This role offers 16-20 flexible hours per week.
We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, experienced and dedicated Practice Nurse to join our GP Practice and work as part of our team, alongside our doctors, paramedics, ANP, Pharmacists, Health Care Assistants and GP Assistant.
The role is part‑time with 16 to 20 hours per week, negotiable within this range.
The Practice Nurse will be responsible for a number of clinical areas such as:
Supplies and equipment: Maintain the treatment room and other areas, including cold chain maintenance and vaccine storage. Ensure clinical rooms are left clean, tidy and waste is disposed of according to practice policy.
Pathological specimens and investigatory procedures: Undertake the collection, storage and dispatch of pathological specimens, including intravenous blood samples, swabs, smears, etc., and perform any investigatory procedures requested by the GPs.
Administrative responsibilities: Record accurate notes for all consultations and treatments in the clinical computer system and complete all required documentation associated with patient healthcare and registration. Maintain statistical information for regular and ad hoc reports and attend and participate in practice meetings as required.
Assist in the formulation of practice philosophy, strategy and policy and develop appropriate protocols. Cooperate and participate in any research projects within the practice. Participate in the education and training of others, including induction of all members of practice staff with special responsibility for nursing staff.
Confidentiality: The post‑holder must respect patient privacy, keep confidential information strictly confidential, and adhere to practice policies and procedures for confidentiality and protection of personal and sensitive data.
Health & Safety: Assist in promoting and maintaining health, safety and security as defined in the practice health & safety policy, including use of personal security systems, risk identification and management, training updates, infection control procedures and maintaining work areas tidy and safe.
Equality and Diversity: Support the equality, diversity and rights of patients, carers and colleagues, ensuring a welcoming, non‑judgemental environment and respecting privacy, dignity and beliefs.
Professional Development: Participate in training programmes, including annual individual performance reviews, maintain a record of personal and professional development, and demonstrate skills and activities to others.
Quality: Maintain quality within the practice, alert other team members to issues of quality and risk, assess personal performance, contribute to team effectiveness, manage time and workload effectively, and collaborate with other agencies to meet patient needs.
Communication: Recognise the importance of effective communication within the team and with patients and carers, including providing alternative communication methods where necessary.
Contribution to Implementation of Services: Apply practice policies, standards and guidance, discuss with team members how policies affect work, participate in audit where appropriate.
