A small but expanding surgery in Farnborough is seeking a Practice Nurse to join a dedicated team. The role involves providing essential patient care and working closely with the nursing and GP staff. Candidates must be qualified as RGN and maintain NMC registration. This position offers the opportunity to work within a supportive management structure in a friendly practice.
We are a small but rapidly expanding surgery in Farnborough with 6500 patients. We are looking for a Practice Nurse with experience of working in a GP Practice. The role will be between 25-30 hours ideally working 3 long days Monday-Wednesday
You will be working in a small nursing team of 2 nurses and an experienced HCA.
We would like experience in the following:
Essential: baby imms, dressings, smears, injections
We are a small but friendly GP surgery. Very hard working team with a strong team ethic.
Very supportive management team and good training support
To provide and maintain a highstandard of nursing care for patients as well as providing nursing assistanceto the doctors and other members of the primary healthcare team.
Job responsibilities:
· Assist in and perform routinetasks related to patient care
· Basic wound care / ulcer care
· Removal of sutures
· Peak flow readings
· Blood pressure measurements
· Ear syringing
· Routine immunisations
· Assisting GPs with minor surgeryand coil fittings
· Requesting basic pathology tests,for example urine culture, swabs
· Following agreed clinicalprotocols with referral to senior nurses or GPs as appropriate
Othertasks including:
· Maintaining and cleaningequipment used by the nurses and GPs
· Maintaining GP and Nurses rooms,stocking and rotating items as requiredalongside the HCA
· Chaperoning and assistingpatients who are being examined by another clinician
· Undertake housekeeping dutiesincluding, general tidiness and cleanlinessof nurses and treatment rooms
· Ordering of stock from the localhospital alongside the HCA
· Ordering of vaccinations tomaintain stock levels
·Maintain Cold Chain procedures including regularaudits
· Participation in administrativesystems in the practice
· At all times there will be a needto maintain accurate records
· A duty to advise clinicians ofpotential problems or errors within the range of assigned tasks
· Attend and participate in anypractice meetings when required.
· Any other delegated dutiesappropriate to the post.
