Job description

Service Care Solutions are recruiting for a permanent Practice Nurse to support a GP Surgery in Burnley.

We are looking for an experienced Practice Nurse to join their established and friendly team. The GP Surgery is looking for a minimum of 15hrs to full-time cover, on a permanent basis! A suitable candidate will have GP Experience and can undergo LT Condition reviews and Cytology.

Location: Burnley BB9 (free onsite parking available)
Pay: Negotiable + 250 Welcome Bonus from Service Care Solutions

The salary offered would reflect previous experience within General Practice. We are willing to offer a higher salary for experience such as prescribing.

Contract: minimum 15hrs to Full-Time Permanent Onsite
Start Date: May 2025

About the GP Surgery:
They offer cervical screening, adult and childhood immunisations, and chronic disease annual reviews. They have a strong nursing team of Health Care Assistants and Nurse Associates. The GP Surgery cares for approximately 8200 patients and employs a team of salaried & sessional GPs, 1 Clinical Pharmacist, 2 Nurse Associates, and 2 HCAs. This is a training practice and has medical students from UCLAN, student nurses, and Trainee Doctors. They are also a research Practice and therefore have research nurses onsite.

Practice Nurse Duties:
  1. Provide nursing treatments to patients in participation with general practitioners or independently, meeting agreed protocols.
  2. Implement and evaluate individual treatment plans for patients with known long-term conditions (Diabetes, Asthma, COPD).
  3. Identify and manage as appropriate treatment plans for patients at risk of developing a long-term condition.
  4. Provide general and specific health screenings to practice patients (within agreed protocols) with referral to general practitioners as necessary.
  5. Assist in the clinical assessment of patients, in line with practice protocols and procedures.
  6. Implement and participate in vaccination and immunisation programmes for both adults and children.
  7. Following appropriate training, undertake the collection, storage, and despatch of pathological specimens including intravenous blood samples, swabs, smears etc., and ensure the cleanliness of any equipment used.
  8. Perform any investigatory procedures requested by the GPs.
  9. Assist with training and mentoring of other practice staff, particularly nursing team.
  10. Facilitate audits and quality improvement projects within the practice.
  11. Work with administrative and management teams to assist in the delivery and achievement of Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF).

Qualifications and Essential Criteria:
  1. Member of the NMC.
  2. Nursing Degree and recent experience working within a GP Surgery.
  3. Computer Literate.
  4. Full UK Driving License.
