Job description

Bean Medical Practice is a small friendly practice with a list size of approximately 4,000 patients. We are currently looking to recruit a practice nurse to join our team.

Main duties of the job
  • Manage patients with chronic disease, running specific clinic sessions and maintaining robust call and recall systems.
  • Participate in national screening work such as cervical cytology and deliver the national immunisation and vaccination schedule.
  • Provide travel health advice and administer appropriate vaccinations.
  • Treat patients with minor injuries.
  • Provide directly and assist GPs with contraceptive services.
  • Break bad news to patients/parents/carers and provide appropriate ongoing support to meet identified needs.
  • Act as chaperone when required.
  • Undertake health promotion to help educate patients.
  • Select, carry out, and interpret results of specific tests.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and enter onto the computer using agreed Read Codes.
  • Ensure accurate completion of all necessary documentation associated with patient health care.
  • Participate in regular Practice audit and research projects.
  • Contribute to the preparation of Practice development plans.
  • Maintain own annual registration with the NMC and adhere to the Code of Professional Conduct.
  • Ensure all statutory regulations (e.g., Health & Safety, COSHH) are implemented and adhered to.
  • Maintain own continuous professional development and keep PDP up-to-date in line with Practice requirements.
  • Attend and participate in staff and Practice meetings and in-house clinical training sessions.
  • Perform any other reasonable duties as required.

We are a small friendly team with 2 GP partners, a practice nurse, practice manager, reception team, and a secretary.

Experience
  • Up-to-date training in childhood immunisations
  • At least 2 years post-registration experience at E grade
  • Experience in health promotion
  • Experience in family planning
  • Recent updating in primary care
  • Experience working with clinical systems
