A busy, well-established GP surgery in Bognor Regis is currently seeking an experienced and motivated Practice Nurse to join its friendly and supportive clinical team. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a collaborative and progressive environment just 200 metres from the beach, serving a diverse and vibrant patient population.
The successful candidate will join a multi-disciplinary team including GPs, Nurse Practitioners, Practice Nurses, HCAs, and GP Assistants. The role is well-suited to a registered nurse with a strong interest in chronic disease management, particularly asthma and COPD, and experience in spirometry and wound care.
Chronic Disease Management:
Conduct reviews and monitoring of long-term conditions (e.g. asthma, COPD)
Perform spirometry testing and interpret results
Deliver personalised care plans within scope of practice
Refer patients appropriately in line with clinical protocols
General Nursing Duties:
Provide wound care, including complex ulcer management
Administer routine and travel immunisations for adults and children
Conduct cervical screening (smear tests)
Carry out ECGs, urinalysis, and blood pressure monitoring
Support family planning and HRT consultations
Undertake new patient health checks and assist with lifestyle advice
Administer injections (e.g. B12, contraceptives, vaccines)
Chaperone patients during clinical examinations or procedures
Clinical Support and Coordination:
Assist GPs with minor surgical procedures
Request and follow up on basic diagnostic tests (e.g. swabs, urine cultures)
Maintain accurate, timely patient records in accordance with practice policy and NMC standards
Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team to ensure continuity of care
Follow agreed clinical protocols and escalate concerns appropriately
Administrative and Infection Control Duties:
Monitor and maintain clinical equipment, ensuring cleanliness and functionality
Support infection prevention and control measures in clinical areas
Participate in ordering, stock rotation, and safe storage of clinical supplies
Contribute to the smooth running of treatment and consultation rooms
Attend team meetings, training sessions, and contribute to quality improvement initiatives
Essential:
Registered Nurse with current NMC registration
Proven clinical skills across core general practice areas
Understanding of chronic disease management and preventative care
Commitment to maintaining high standards of nursing care and clinical governance
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong organisational and time-management skills
Basic IT skills and experience with clinical systems (training can be provided)
Desirable:
Experience working in general practice or community settings
Cervical cytology training (current or willing to update)
Immunisation and vaccination certification
Spirometry training and experience
Experience in wound care, including leg ulcers and dressings
A warm, collaborative working environment
