About the Role
The Knares Medical Practice, situated in Basildon, has a fantastic opportunity for an experienced practice nurse to join our team on a part-time basis, working between 8-16 hours per week. The main responsibilities of the role include:
- Undertaking health assessments, administering medication and treatments, and performing diagnostic tests.
- Providing and evaluating a range of health interventions to meet patients’ health and social care needs.
- Promoting general health and well-being, and creating individual, person-centred plans for patients with, or at risk of, long-term conditions.
- Managing and treating long-term conditions in line with national and local policies and practice needs.
- Reviewing medication for therapeutic effectiveness, working with patients to support adherence to treatments, in accordance with evidence-based practice and protocols.
- Prioritising health problems and intervening appropriately, including in complex, urgent, or emergency situations, with initiation of emergency care when necessary.
- Supporting women with sexual health, contraception, and cervical cytology consultations.
- Implementing and participating in vaccination and immunisation programmes for adults and children, including travel vaccinations.
- Providing opportunistic wound care for patients.
- Managing hypertension reviews and treatment.
- Running clinics and reviews for asthma, COPD, and diabetes.
- Conducting new patient and health checks.
About the Candidate
Applicants should have:
- A relevant nursing degree.
- Current NMC registration with an active PIN.
- Fundamentals of Practice Nursing course (or equivalent experience/qualifications).
- Certificates and competence to undertake asthma, COPD, and diabetic clinics and reviews.
- Experience in treatment room consultations, phlebotomy, ECG recording, screening, management of long-term conditions, cervical cytology sampling, vaccinations, assisting with minor surgery, dressing and wound care, and spirometry recording.
- A compassionate, empathetic approach, valuing patient dignity and demonstrating kindness in all aspects of work.
- Knowledge and experience supporting long-term conditions.
- An understanding of current issues in nursing and the NHS.
