Job summary

Salford City Council is inviting applications for a Practice Manager in the Child Protection and Child in Need Team. This fixed-term role focuses on the day-to-day delivery and ongoing improvement of social work services for children and families.

You will supervise staff, ensure robust documentation and data sharing, and drive service performance to improve outcomes. The post offers 36 hours per week, hybrid working, and a supportive leadership team.

Qualifications

• Experience managing social work teams.
• Knowledge of child protection frameworks and safeguarding policy.
• Strong documentation and data management experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversight and management of the day-to-day delivery of all aspects of the Social Work team with a focus on quality and improvement.
• Ensure participation of children, young people, and families and translate lived experiences into plans.
• Ensure documentation, record keeping, accounting and communication are maintained, including responding to complaints.
• Regularly analyse, monitor and report on team performance and outcomes for children and families.
• Accountable for staff supervision, care and development of the team.

An excellent opportunity has arisen to appoint a Practice Manager within our Child Protection/Child in Need Team

Our Child Protection and Child in Need service is made up of 6 teams, each with its own Practice Manager, two Advanced Social Workers and seven Social Workers. Workers in this department seize the opportunity to support families to make progress so risks are reduced for children and young people. Our social work teams are supported by a bespoke team of family practitioners co-located with the social work teams, dedicated administration support alongside minute taking pools to help to reduce the time spent on administrative tasks and close working relationships with our integrated family time service.

Your role will include:

• Oversight and management of the day to day delivery of all aspects of the Social Work team. Your role will have a focus on the quality and improvement of social work and service deliver
• You will ensure the service is facilitating effective participation of children, young people and families and that their lived experiences are known, understood and inform plans.
• You will be responsible for ensuring documentation, record keeping, accounting and communication is maintained, and effective information strategies and systems are in place to enable appropriate sharing of data and information. Including responding to complaints.
• You will ensure the regular and effective analysis, monitoring, measurement and maintaining of the performance of the team to ensure impact on outcomes for children and families is understood.
• You will be accountable to the Service Manager for staff supervision, care and development of the team.
