Job description

Ambrose Avenue Group Practice in Colchester is a friendly and welcoming GP practice serving 14,500 patients across two locations. We are currently seeking a strategic and experienced individual with a proven track record in business and people management to fill the role of practice manager. Working across our two sites, Ambrose Avenue and Tollgate, this is a full-time role, requiring 37.5 hours per week over five days. This role presents an opportunity to apply transferable skills within a well-established and supportive organisation that values autonomy and encourages ongoing professional development. The successful candidate will play a central role in managing and further developing the practice, joining a team that prioritises training, has a clear vision for the future, and is dedicated to patient-centred care. You will receive support from the finance manager, operations manager, and a capable administrative team.

Main duties of the job
  • Provide organisational leadership to our team alongside the management team to ensure the effective delivery of high-quality, sustainable services.
  • Achieve key targets in all clinical and administrative areas of the practice.
  • Manage, coordinate, and oversee all aspects of practice functionality.
  • Motivate and manage staff, optimising efficiency and performance, and ensuring that the practice achieves its long-term strategic objectives in a safe and effective working environment.
  • Implement innovative working methods, lead the team in promoting continuous improvement, maintaining confidentiality, fostering collaboration, ensuring service delivery, and facilitating learning and development, all while ensuring compliance with CQC regulations.
About us

Ambrose Avenue Group Practice is a friendly, long-established, award-winning, progressive GP practice. We are based over two surgery sites within 10 minutes of each other, serving the population of Stanway and Prettygate in Colchester, Essex. We are a training practice and offer services to a population of over 14,500 patients. The clinical team consists of eight GPs, a GP trainee, four advanced nurse practitioners, three nurses, two healthcare assistants, and various allied health professionals, including GP assistants, a health and wellbeing coach, clinical pharmacist, pharmacy technicians, care coordinator, social prescriber, and care advisor.

We hold monthly meetings and training sessions and have a diverse team of clinicians, including first contact physios, pharmacists, ANPs/NPs, care coordinators, social prescribers, health coaches, GP assistants, and an award-winning team of mental health workers.
