This is a great opportunity for an action, solution focused manager who will lead with compassion, integrity,positivity and reflection. You will be responsible for a team of Support Coordinators to deliver effective, andhigh quality support to those individuals who Future Pathways support.

  • We’d like a degree in Health and Social Care, Social Work or equivalent but, if you hold a recognised, relevantprofessional qualification at a minimum SVQ Level 4 with relevant workplace experience this workstoo.
  • Up to date child and vulnerable adult protection knowledge together with formal training inreflective practice, coaching or facilitation and ideally completion of suicide prevention training such asASIST.
  • Experience of leading others, whether an experienced manager or an eager [for promotion] TeamLeader who can demonstrate and enable consistency of practice and good use of resources and support toindividuals
  • You are steadfast in your resolve for doing the right thing in the right way whilst beingequally realistic and pragmatic, managing individual and collective performance, enabling responsiveness to thefull range of demands on our service.
  • Worked with staff in accordance with the statutory framework andrequirement including GDPR, BACP, the SSSC and the Care Inspectorate.
  • The ability to prepare creativeand positive presentations and engage learners and audiences alike.
  • Knowledge of and positive engagementwith Impact Evaluation and Quality Assurance Frameworks for the purposes of continuous improvement. and practicedevelopment.

The salary scale for this post is Point 44 to 48 (£43,614 - £47,859). We are seeking volunteers to join our Board of Trustees. Specifically, we are looking for volunteers to fulfil therole of Chair of the Board and also Treasurer. It’s an exciting time to join our Board as we continue to developour strategy and target growth in all aspects of our work.

This is an opportunity to volunteer for a charity that provides high-qualitypsychodynamic training and services, aiming to make psychodynamic counselling and therapy, and the theories thatinform them, more accessible across Scotland.

Working closely with the Director and fellow Trustees, the Chair will utilise their skills and experience to lead theBoard on matters of governance, ensuring that all activities align with HDS’s charitable aims, publicly statedobjectives values and constitution, and that there is appropriate risk management in place (financial andother).

The ideal candidate will have a substantive employment background in one or more of the following areas:

  • Psychotherapy and/or counselling
  • Financial management and accounting
  • Businessmanagement
  • Governance
  • Management within the public or charity sector

Treasurer

The ideal candidate will have substantive employment background in financial management and accounting to fulfil therole of Treasurer of the Board. The postholder will work closely with our Director and provide financialoversight to the management and administration of HDS activities.

In addition to the above, we are looking for someone who has substantive experience in one or more of:

  • Business management
  • Governance
  • Management within the public or charity sector

Role of all Trustees

Our volunteer Trustees contribute significantly to our overall charitable objectives and we value their knowledge andexperience. Trustees dedicate time to attend Board meetings (usually six meetings per year). While an in-depthunderstanding of the theories informing the psychotherapeutic training or work of the organisation is notrequired, our Trustees should have a grounded belief in the value of high-quality psychotherapy and counsellingin effecting change in people's lives.

About HDS

Human Development Scotland (HDS) is a charity that provides high-quality psychodynamic training and therapeuticservices, aiming to make psychodynamic counselling and therapy, and the theories that inform them, moreaccessible across Scotland. Our office is based in Glasgow city centre which includes a Training Suite for ourpart-time students to receive their teaching, and counselling rooms where some of our therapeutic servicesoperate from.

The Operations Manager is a key role at the PF which ensures that all aspects of our business, service delivery, andoperations are carried out successfully, efficiently, safely, and cost effectively. Reporting to and workingclosely with the CEO, the Operations Manager will be integral to ensuring the future success of theorganisation.

The role crosses a number of areas of our business, from finance management, IT systems, our policies and procedures,and the management of our building. It is a wide ranging, busy job with multiple priorities. As such, we needsomeone who is efficient, process minded and able to juggle competing demands.

The Operations Manager must be an excellent communicator and able to forge positive relationships with a wide varietyof people, bringing staff and volunteers on board with new systems and processes, and ensuring they work withinexisting policies and procedures.

Organisation profile:

PF Counselling Service provides affordable counselling in Edinburgh for people facing mild to moderate mental healthdifficulties in their everyday life. Our vision is to enable people to embrace life more fully through thegrowth, change and healing that can take place through the counselling process. Our volunteer counsellors offera professional service to individuals over the age of 18. PF Counselling relies on donations to keep our serviceaccessible and affordable for all. We suggest a minimum donation of £20 to contribute towards the cost ofclient’s weekly sessions.

The PF offers over 11,000 sessions of counselling a year to over 750 clients, provided by around 100 professionallytrained volunteer counsellors. The staff team of seven is responsible for all aspects of delivering theservice.

The Hearing Voices Network Dundee is a SCIO which provides a HaVeN for those who hear voices, as well as those in thecommunity who have mental health challenges. The HaVen is a drop-in centre as well as a community café which isbased in the Hilltown offering a variety of groups which are run and supported by volunteers.

The Hearing Voices Network Dundee seeks to inspire hope for Voice-Hearers, their friends & families. We have adrop-in service which is open to all. No referral is needed to access the services and support that we provide.We offer 1:1 support, advice, volunteering opportunities, befriending, peer2peer, training, group work and havea community café on site. We work closely with other organisation in our community to ensure that we remain upto date and are able provide creative support solutions to our service users and the community around us.

Requirements:

Ideally, the successful candidate will have.

  • Degree or relevant professional qualification in a related field, such as social work, psychology, communityLearning & development, mental health.

  • Lead, motivate, and manage staff and volunteers, providing guidance, support, and development opportunities.
  • Ensure that appropriate staffing levels are maintained, and that staff are provided with training to meet their personal development needs and the needs of the organisation.

Samaritans is looking for a dynamic and experienced Policy Manager to lead our policy and influencing work inScotland.

About the Role

As Policy Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in our mission to reduce suicide. You’ll lead the development ofevidence-based policy positions, influence national and local decision-making, and ensure our voice, and thevoices of people with lived experience, are heard at the highest levels. This is an exciting time to joinSamaritans Scotland, as we are a lead partner in Scotland’s national suicide prevention strategy, workingclosely with the Scottish Government and other partners to deliver the actions in the strategy and reduce liveslost to suicide in Scotland.

Working closely with the Head of Policy and Communications, you’ll manage a Policy & Engagement Officer andcollaborate with colleagues across the UK and Ireland.

Your role will be challenging and rewarding. You’ll be positive, engaging and passionate, with motivational strengthswhich will enable you to lead and drive your team and inspire colleagues, external stakeholders, and people whowant to stand alongside us in pushing for change. You’ll play a key role in ensuring we influence with one voiceand help drive change to support suicide prevention.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of policy positions and research to support suicide prevention in Scotland.
  • Manageand mentor a Policy & Engagement Officer.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholdersincluding government, public bodies, and the voluntary sector.
  • Represent Samaritans externally,including at national forums and events.
  • Develop and deliver influencing strategies, including responsesto consultations and parliamentary inquiries.
  • Ensure the voices of volunteers and people with livedexperience are central to our policy work.

What We’re Looking For

  • Extensive experience in policy development and influencing within a Scottish context.
  • Strongunderstanding of mental health, suicide prevention, and/or inequalities.
  • Proven ability to manage people and projectseffectively.
  • Experience working collaboratively across teams and sectors.
  • Background in mental health or suicide prevention.
  • Experience of working with people with livedexperience to inform policy.
  • Knowledge of the Scottish voluntary sector and charitylandscape.
