Are you an experienced, registered Social Worker who has a Practice Educator Award (Stage One and Two), with currency? Are you passionate about playing a vital role in assessing, supporting, providing guidance, and oversight to social work students to apply and extend their knowledge, skills, and values in a social work practice setting?

Leeds Trinity University is committed to providing high-quality support and guidance to student social workers and our practice placement partners in the supervision and assessment of practice.

We are looking to appoint experienced social workers who hold the Practice Educators award and have current currency as off-site Practice Educators. You would work as an off-site (arm’s length) Practice Educator with students in placement settings, working alongside a Work-Based Supervisor, who will be responsible for day-to-day support and supervision.

We seek individuals with current knowledge and experience in social work from various practice settings and service user groups. You will support, supervise, and assess social work students in either first (80 days) or final (90 days) placements, aligned with their scope of practice, to meet relevant social work capabilities, module, and programme outcomes. Responsibilities include regular supervision (including joint supervision with the Work-Based Supervisor), observation of practice, teaching, student support, and attendance at joint meetings with the University Tutor. You will provide written assessments and judgments of students' practice against the Professional Capability Standards (British Association of Social Workers) and participate in supervisory meetings, learning agreement meetings, mid-way reviews, and final evaluations. Additional support and evidence may be required in cases of student difficulties. A good understanding of working with diverse social work students is essential. You will also attend briefings, meetings, and training to contribute to high-quality practice placements and experiences, including quality assurance of practice placements (QAPL).

The post primarily supports student social workers and practice placement partners in West Yorkshire. However, visits to Leeds Trinity Horsforth Campus and partner organizations outside West Yorkshire may be necessary.

The base is at Leeds Trinity University campus in Horsforth, Leeds, with most meetings at placement partner premises within West Yorkshire. Through our agile working framework, remote work options are available and will be discussed at interview.
