Job description

Flexible Location: Based throughout Scotland, NES is a remote friendly employer supporting office and hybrid working. We’re happy to talk about how you want to work.

Work Pattern: Fixed Term, Part Time, 22.2 hours per week (22 hours and 12 minutes per week)

Fixed-term or Secondment** for 18 months

**For NHS applicants, an NHS secondment will be offered in the first instance. For non-NHS applicants, a fixed-term or secondment would be considered.

You must have eligibility and entitlement to work in the UK which is required to be maintained throughout your period of employment.

Who We Are

NHS Education for Scotland (NES) is the national health board with statutory responsibilities to effect sustainable change through workforce development, education and training across the health and social care system in Scotland, while working at UK level with partner organisations.

The Pharmacy team within NES is responsible through the Executive Medical Director to the NES Board and through the Board to Scottish Government for the commissioning and delivery of postgraduate pharmacy education in Scotland.

PracticeEducators in NES Pharmacy provide supportforthe development of key education solutions as well as support for educational supervisors and learners. This role provides a real opportunity to contribute to a critical stage of pharmacy education support.

The Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to join our innovative team within NES Pharmacy. This is an excellent opportunity for a pharmacist with an interest in educational initiatives to expand their career experience.

This role will support the workstream relating to the initial education and training of pharmacists in Scotland. You will support the development and delivery of education and training for Pharmacist facilitators within the service who provide Experiential Learning. You will also support the design and development of the National Plans for Experiential Learning in Scotland.

You will be highly motivated with a desire to support the further implementation of this exciting initiative. You will work closely with members of the NES team, community pharmacists, hospital and primary care pharmacists and colleagues from the Universities.

Practice Educators offer a broad range of skills and experience, if you can offer some or all of these, we’d love you to apply:

  • Pharmacist Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)

  • Experience as a pharmacist practicing in any sector (i.e. Community, hospital, primary care), with experience of supporting trainees/learners

  • Ability to collaborate effectively and build networks and communities of practice

  • Experience in the delivery of activities which support change and development

  • Highly effective communicator, with the ability to communicate complex and sensitive information

  • Experience working collaboratively and flexibly within a team, across organisations and in multidisciplinary environments

  • Demonstrate honesty, integrity, care and compassion when dealing with others, utilising tact and persuasion skills when necessary

  • Ability to work on own initiative, to organise and prioritise own workloads, to meet strict deadlines
