Job summary

PSD Scotland, part of NHS Scotland, is seeking Practice Educators to join the Pharmacy team to support the Post‑Registration Programme across Scotland. You will work with educational supervisors and learners, delivering national sessions and ensuring quality across training pathways.

The role focuses on developing education solutions, collaborating with multiple stakeholders, and providing cross‑cover for directorate priorities. Travel is required as part of the role.

As part of this transformation, NHS National Services Scotland (NSS) and NHS Education for Scotland (NES) have joined to form a new organisation: Public Services Delivery Scotland (PSD Scotland). This new organisation will play a pivotal role in supporting the renewal and ensuring the long‑term sustainability of health and care services across Scotland.

Flexible Location

Work Pattern

Fixed Term, Part Time, 21.6 hours per week

Fixed‑term or Secondment until 31 March 2027

We support staff with education and training, provide the tools and data that improve services, and run vital national functions such as procurement, logistics and blood, tissue and cell services.

The Pharmacy Team

The Pharmacy team within PSD Scotland is responsible through the Executive Medical Director to the PSD Scotland Board and through the Board to Scottish Government for the commissioning and delivery of postgraduate pharmacy education in Scotland.

The Opportunity

We have an opportunity for pharmacists interested in education and training to join the PSD Scotland Pharmacy team as a Practice Educator with the Post‑Registration Programme team, on a fixed term or secondment basis until 31 March 2027. This is an exciting opportunity to join the team responsible for supporting educational supervisors and foundation pharmacists as learners complete the Post‑Registration Programme in Scotland which follows the UK wide Royal College of Pharmacy (RCPharm) curriculum.

Practice Educators in the PSD Scotland Pharmacy team provide support for the development of key education solutions as well as support for educational supervisors and learners. These roles provide a real opportunity to contribute to a critical stage of pharmacy education support. They provide an excellent opportunity for a pharmacist with an interest in educational initiatives to expand their career experience.

The role will work collaboratively across PSD Scotland and the NHS Scotland pharmacy service, bringing pharmacy education and training expertise to the national context, promoting, and supporting educational developments across the career pathways.

You will be responsible for supporting Senior Educators and the Principal Lead in the development and implementation of the overarching delivery of the programme. Specific delivery of sessions to pharmacists through participation in national educational sessions, the delivery of national peer sessions and the quality management of progress of those in training as well as providing additional support when required are key to this role. As part of a flexible and collaborative team, the post‑holder will primarily support the Post‑Registration Programme team and will provide cross‑cover to support wider directorate priorities as required. Travel will be required as part of this role.
