Circa £40,000 - £45,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

Main duties of the job

We have an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse with a valid UK NMC registration to join our team, supporting colleagues in developing skills in palliative and end-of-life care.

The position is based within the education and clinical teams, reporting to the Head of Clinical Services and working with the central Sue Ryder education team.

About us

Sue Ryder Wheatfields Hospice is located in Headingley, Leeds. We provide expert palliative care when it is most needed. We support individuals living with a life-limiting condition, as well as their loved ones and families.

We support people aged 18 and over with conditions such as cancer, heart failure, and lung disease by offering specialist medical care to manage pain and symptoms, along with emotional, practical, and spiritual support.

Care is provided in our inpatient unit and through our CNS team, which visits patients at home.

Job responsibilities

This role involves supporting the development of clinical skills in palliative and end-of-life care, supporting colleagues, and contributing to the Clinical Education Strategy and Framework, including facilitating learning in palliative care.

You will demonstrate clinical expertise and serve as a role model in practice.

Opportunities for academic and professional development are available.

You will assist the Senior Leadership Team in delivering the Quality Improvement Plan through incident analysis and support research initiatives to promote evidence-based practice.

Person Specification
Experience
  • Knowledge of training needs analysis, adult learning, and mandatory training requirements.
  • Experience in delivering education using various learning styles and assessing clinical staff.
  • Skilled in coaching, supporting staff and volunteers, appraisals, inductions, mentoring, and preceptorship.

Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse with a UK NMC pin, educated to degree level (or working towards it).

  • Committed to continuous professional development.
