Job description

This is a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated, knowledgeable, and proactive individual with a passion for teaching and professional development to join our growing education team as a Practice Education Facilitator. You will support the delivery and coordination of effective education, training, and clinical practice development for employees, students, and volunteers, underpinning the delivery of outstanding palliative and end of life care at St Lukes Hospice.

The Practice Education Facilitator will play a central role in developing clinical competence, enhancing learning environments, and promoting evidence-based practice. You will collaborate with internal and external partners, including universities and other community partners in Mid and South Essex, to provide high-quality learning and assessment experiences across our care services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, deliver, and evaluate education, training, and continuous professional development initiatives for clinical teams, students, and volunteers.
  • Act as a role model and mentor within the workplace, fostering a positive learning culture and supporting the induction, supervision, and assessment of learners.
  • Identify and respond to learning and development needs through engagement with teams, audits, feedback, and evolving best practice in palliative care.
  • Develop and deliver teaching sessions, clinical skills training, and competency assessments, both in-person and through virtual learning platforms.
  • Work collaboratively with academic and clinical partners to coordinate high-quality student placements, ensuring compliance with regulatory and quality standards.
  • Contribute to curriculum development, evaluation, and quality assurance processes for internal and partnership education programmes.
  • Promote the implementation of innovation, and evidence-based practice within daily clinical activity.
  • Support quality improvement, audit, and service development projects, contributing to excellence in patient care and the employee experience.
  • Champion the values of St Lukes Hospice, ensuring inclusive, person-centred education for all learners.

A good working knowledge of local healthcare networks and an understanding of the education landscape in Essex would be an advantage in this role.
