Job summary

Butler Rose seeks an Accountant to join its Peterborough team, supporting business owners with accounts, management accounts and advisory work while helping to develop systems, processes and digital services.

This hands-on, UK practice role is for a qualified or part-qualified accountant who enjoys combining technical accounting with client-facing advisory work, cloud accounting and continuous improvement. Hybrid working with an office-first approach is offered.

Responsibilities

• Preparing accounts and management accounts for a varied portfolio of practice clients.
• Presenting financial information and insights to business owners in clear, straightforward language.
• Supporting clients with budgets, cash flow, financial planning and wider business decisions.
• Helping clients implement cloud accounting systems.
• Supporting workflow automation and identifying opportunities to improve client processes.
• Driving improvements to internal processes, information capture and the overall client experience.
• Supporting the appropriate use of AI and emerging technology across the practice.
• Mentoring trainee accounting technicians and bookkeeping staff.
• Supporting the directors with workflow management during periods of annual leave or absence.
• Contributing ideas to the development of advisory services.
• Supporting the development of new advisory concepts and services.
• Representing the practice at exhibitions, events and similar business activities.

An established accountancy practice in Peterborough is seeking an Accountant to join its growing team, supporting business owners with accounts, management accounts and advisory work while helping to develop systems, processes and digital services. This is a hands-on role for a qualified or part-qualified practice accountant who enjoys combining technical accounting with client-facing advisory work, technology and continuous improvement.

Role Responsibilities

• Preparing accounts and management accounts for a varied portfolio of practice clients.
• Presenting financial information and insights to business owners in clear, straightforward language.
• Supporting clients with budgets, cash flow, financial planning and wider business decisions.
• Helping clients implement cloud accounting systems.

Personal Requirements

• Current or recent experience working within a UK accountancy practice is essential.
• Full, unrestricted right to work in the UK. Sponsorship is not available.
• Qualified or part-qualified accountant with strong management accounts experience.
• Confident communicating directly with business owners and explaining financial information clearly.
• A positive, adaptable approach and willingness to learn new systems and technologies.
• Strong interest in cloud accounting, automation and the practical application of AI.
• Tech-friendly approach, ideally with experience using Xero or similar accounting platforms.
• Strong problem solving skills with the initiative to identify and implement improvements.
• Calm, thoughtful and professional approach when dealing with clients and colleagues.
• Ability to support and mentor junior members of the team.
• Commercial awareness and an interest in helping owner-managed businesses make better financial decisions.
