Job summary

Dovetail and Slate is recruiting a Painting & Decorating Tutor to join the on-site vocational education team at HMP Feltham in Greater London. You will deliver practical training and qualifications to small groups, building craftsmanship, surface prep, and workplace discipline to help learners succeed post-release.

The role requires a Level 2 vocational painting & decorating or related trade, hands-on experience, and ability to train with varied methods.

Qualifications

Trade qualifications: A Level 2 vocational in Painting & Decorating or related construction trade.
Hands-on experience as a painter, decorator, or finishing specialist.
Experience delivering vocational or on-the-job training to learners.
Teaching qualification desirable; support and funding available to achieve during probation.

Responsibilities

Plan and deliver Painting & Decorating training modules with practical sessions and theory.
Create individual training plans and provide ongoing advice and feedback.
Maintain health & safety, workspace standards, tool control, and cleanliness in a secure learning environment.
Assess learner work, track progress, and document in line with awarding body guidelines.
Support rehabilitation by boosting self-esteem, work-readiness, and motivation for employment.
