PR and Communications Manager

We’re looking for an experienced PR and Communications Manager who will be instrumental in building the charity’s profile, increasing brand awareness, and fostering engagement through strategic, targeted, and compelling communications.

Position: PR and Communications Manager

Location: Hybrid working, home and office based – Amersham, Buckinghamshire

Hours: Part-time - 21 hours per week

Contract: Permanent

About the role: We are seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to lead our communication strategies, enhance our public relations efforts, and manage fundraising campaigns. The role is key to raising the charity's profile, driving engagement, and expanding reach.

The PR and Communications Manager will focus on delivering strong messaging, forging media and influencer relationships, and creating PR opportunities at various levels. You will explore innovative promotion methods and contribute significantly to fundraising efforts. You will work closely with the Fundraising and Communications Team, including the Brand and Marketing Manager and Head of Fundraising and Communications.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Enhance the charity's profile through strategic PR activities and diverse media channels.
  • Build relationships with media partners and journalists at all levels.
  • Create compelling press releases, blogs, articles, and statements.
  • Respond to press inquiries and maximize engagement opportunities.
  • Manage our ambassador programme to keep our mission visible.
  • Build relationships with celebrities and influencers to support our cause.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive communications plan.
  • Collaborate with the Programmes team to create impactful stories, imagery, and videos.
  • Lead the creation and execution of awareness and fundraising campaigns alongside the Head of Fundraising and the Brand and Marketing Manager.

About you: We seek an established PR and Communications Manager with excellent written and verbal skills, adaptable to various audiences. Strong organizational skills, content creation abilities, and analytical skills are essential.

Key skills required:

  • Experience in delivering successful PR campaigns and media relations.
  • Proven ability in media relations across B2B and B2C sectors.
  • Track record in managing fundraising and communication campaigns.
  • Experience in developing long-term marketing and communication strategies.
  • Ability to manage partnerships and stakeholder relationships.
  • Skilled in copywriting and developing fundraising stories.
  • Independent worker with team collaboration skills.
  • Strong relationship management with sensitivity and empathy.
