PQS - Cost Consultant / Quantity Surveyor

Job Advert: Cost Consultant – Private Practice

Location: Manchester or Glasgow depending on candidate

Salary: Competitive, depending on experience

The Role:

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Cost Consultant to join our team. You will play a pivotal role in managing costs, advising clients, and ensuring financial efficiency in projects of varying scale and complexity. Key Responsibilities:

  1. Preparing cost estimates, budgets, and financial reports throughout the project lifecycle.
  2. Advising on procurement strategies and contract administration.
  3. Conducting feasibility studies, risk assessments, and value engineering.
  4. Evaluating contractor proposals and preparing tender documents.
  5. Monitoring and controlling project costs, ensuring alignment with budgets.
  6. Maintaining strong relationships with clients, contractors, and stakeholders.
  7. Keeping up to date with industry trends, regulations, and market conditions.

About You:

  1. Proven experience as a Cost Consultant or Quantity Surveyor, ideally within a private practice setting.
  2. A degree in Quantity Surveying, or a related discipline.
  3. Membership of a relevant professional body (RICS) or working towards chartership.
  4. Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  5. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with a client-focused approach.
  6. Proficient in relevant software (e.g., Adobe, Excel, MS Project).
