Job summary

Pioneer Selection is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for a well-established Gainsborough manufacturing business. This hands-on, days-based role focuses on planned maintenance to keep production equipment reliable and available while supporting breakdowns when required.

You will work across conveyors and production machinery, carrying out fault finding, component changes, lubrication and equipment adjustments, and support continuous improvement and shutdown activities.

Qualifications

• Level 3 qualification in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Experience performing planned preventative maintenance.
• Experience with conveyors and production machinery.
• Apprentice-trained or suitably experienced in mechanical maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Carry out fault finding and component changes, lubrication and equipment adjustments.
• Support continuous improvement and planned shutdown activities.
• Work across mechanical plant and production machinery to improve reliability.

Education

Level 3 qualification in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline

Mechanical Engineer

Salary: Up to £44,000

Location: Gainsborough

Shift: Monday to Friday, 7:30am-4:00pm, with some flexibility around planned shutdowns

Job Role of the Mechanical Engineer

A well-established manufacturing business in Gainsborough is looking to add a Mechanical Engineer to its engineering team. This is a hands-on, days-based position focused predominantly on planned maintenance, helping to keep production equipment reliable, efficient and available while supporting breakdowns when required. You'll work across a variety of mechanical plant and production machinery, carrying out fault finding, component changes, lubrication and equipment adjustments. The role will also involve supporting continuous improvement and planned shutdown activities, making it a great opportunity for a mechanically skilled engineer who enjoys preventative maintenance and improving equipment performance.

Non-Negotiable Requirements for the Mechanical Engineer

• Level 3 qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
• Mechanical maintenance experience within a manufacturing or production environment
• Experience completing planned preventative maintenance
• Mechanical fault-finding and breakdown experience

Requirements for the Mechanical Engineer

• Apprentice-trained or suitably experienced in mechanical maintenance
• Experience working on conveyors and production machinery
• Ability to install and set up blades to tight tolerances
• Understanding of safe maintenance practices and Health & Safety procedures
• Experience completing maintenance records and PPM documentation
• Ability to work closely with Engineering and Operations teams

Desirable Requirements for the Mechanical Engineer

• Welding and fabrication experience
• Food, FMCG, agricultural or heavy-industrial experience
• Continuous improvement and downtime-reduction experience
