Job summary

TeacherActive Limited. is seeking a SEND Teacher for opportunities in London specialist SEND schools. The role supports pupils with Autism, SLD, MLD, PMLD and SEMH through engaging, differentiated lessons.

Candidates will teach as Class Teacher or provide PPA cover across different classes, delivering inclusive pedagogy and maximizing student progress in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• Experience teaching pupils with SEND, ideally within a specialist school.
• Experience as a Class Teacher, PPA Cover Teacher or SEND Supply Teacher.
• Strong classroom management and the ability to adapt to different learning environments.
• A good understanding of EHCPs, differentiated learning and inclusive teaching practices.
• Experience supporting pupils with Autism, learning difficulties or complex additional needs.
• Excellent communication, organisational and teamwork skills.
• A patient, flexible and compassionate approach to teaching.
• The confidence to work independently and collaboratively within a specialist educational setting.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to pupils with a range of SEND needs.
• Take responsibility for a designated class or provide high-quality PPA cover across different classes.
• Adapt teaching strategies and resources to meet individual learning styles and abilities.
• Support pupils with Autism, SLD, MLD, PMLD, SEMH and complex learning needs.
• Follow existing lesson plans and maintain continuity of learning when providing PPA cover.
• Implement EHCP targets and support pupils in achieving individual learning goals.
• Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, therapists and the wider SEND team.
• Use positive behaviour management strategies to create a safe and structured classroom environment.
• Promote independence, communication, confidence and essential life skills.
• Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff and senior leaders.
