Job description

PPA Advisory, Assistant Director, London

Corporate PPA Assistant Director role (Senior Manager)

EY UK (London-based with some flexible working)

The Opportunity

EY is the UK's leading PPA advisor, focusing on delivering PPA strategy and procurement processes for UK and European corporates and the public sector. The role involves supporting expansion into new services such as green gas procurement and new European markets.

The EY PPA team is part of the EY Energy & Infrastructure (E&I) team, a leading renewable energy advisor in UK & Europe, involved in high-profile cross-border transactions and corporate PPAs, supporting major renewable projects and portfolios globally.

Our diverse team of around 30 professionals includes bankers, accountants, engineers, and energy experts. Working with us offers opportunities for formal and on-the-job learning, helping you develop as a renewable energy strategy advisor and senior manager in PPA and GPA transactions, alongside the M&A team.

This is a unique opportunity to join a market-leading, entrepreneurial team working across renewables and broader energy transition projects. The role is based in London with a flexible working arrangement, requiring an average of 3 days in the office or at client sites.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Advising on procurement of PPAs (and potentially GPAs) for corporate and public sector clients, including bid evaluation and contract negotiations.
  • Leading research and report writing for renewable energy strategy projects, and delivering client workshops (both in-person and online).
  • Preparing marketing materials and other deliverables for PPA/GPA projects.
  • Driving revenue growth through origination of PPA transactions, targeting new and existing clients, and expanding market share.
  • Analyzing energy consumption and pricing data; developing and reviewing financial models for PPAs/GPAs, including sensitivity analyses.
  • Managing projects and coordinating with stakeholders, including project developers and senior clients.
  • Building and maintaining client relationships, including proposals, pitches, and marketing initiatives.
  • Engaging in cross-functional projects related to M&A and decarbonization strategies.
  • Collaborating across geographically and commercially diverse operations within EY.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience and passion for the renewable energy sector.
  • Negotiation experience for Power Purchase Agreements.
  • Strong motivation and personal drive.
  • Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written; proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills, including financial modeling for renewable energy projects.
  • Knowledge of power markets, energy transition, and energy services, with relevant contacts.
  • Ability to lead projects, build relationships, and work under pressure across multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Team-oriented with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Degree-level education.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in business development and opportunity identification for renewable energy services.
  • Experience with gas hedging, trading, or purchase agreements.
  • Active participation in industry events, speaking engagements, or thought leadership.
  • Track record of successful sales pitches and commercial opportunity conversion.
  • Potential to support wider strategic initiatives, including M&A and project development.
  • Advanced professional qualifications (e.g., ACA, CFA, MBA).

What We Look For

We seek a highly motivated candidate with strong technical and commercial skills to help grow our PPA business. You will be supported by experienced leaders and work across the UK and Europe. The role focuses on structuring and negotiating PPAs, with potential growth into GPAs.

Thought leadership from our PPA team is available at www.ey.com/recai. More information about our energy and resource sector services can be found at EY Renewable Energy Strategy and PPAs.
