A leading company in automotive technologies is seeking a Powertrain Systems Engineer to leverage their expertise in electric and hybrid powertrain development. In this role, you will lead system integration and verification, ensuring optimal performance and adherence to engineering principles. Your ability to communicate effectively and work within a team will contribute to defining future generation powertrains, addressing both customer needs and technical challenges.
Experience of propulsion system delivery and problem solving. Systems Engineering knowledge, project leadership & co-ordination.
Complete grasp of the engineering fundamentals that underpin EV / Hybrid powertrains - This role provides exciting opportunity to define future electric / hybrid powertrains
Decomposition of functional requirements from vehicle attribute to Powertrain hardware using Systems Engineering principles (incl. HV Battery and Electric Drive Unit / ICE / Transmission)
Optimal deployment of hardware to enable class leading customer features and attributes
Responsible for powertrain functional requirements, supporting system strategy, and system level validation through virtual and physical testing
Systems Engineering environment - within the automotive or another technical industry
Your responsibilities:
Proactively understand customer needs and requirements
Evaluate multiple system concepts to determine strategic direction of the Powertrain
Prepare system specifications and functional designs, and demonstrate how they satisfy customer needs
System integration - define logical and physical architecture, and operating logic
Design verification - Determine verification needs (e.g. test asset, facility) and support the definition of test methodologies. Analyse test data and support physical testing.
Adhere to the defined systems engineering & programme delivery processes.
Lead resolution of complex multi-system issues
Essential skills/knowledge/experience:
Relevant experience of working in powertrain systems engineering
Experience of system definition, architecture development, requirements specification, CAE, hardware integration, validation & sign off
Good verbal and written communication
Be technically curious, with a strong analytical approach
Have a track record as an effective team player with strong interpersonal skills
Experience in applying Systems Engineering and in solving complex technical issues using a structured approach
Problem solving
Bachelors degree in mechanical / electrical engineering or automotive engineering
