Job summary

Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team in Brackley is seeking an experienced Powertrain Integration Design Engineer to own powertrain projects from concept to end of use. You will design, model and draw components across gearbox, hydraulics, clutch, cooling and fuel systems while coordinating with manufacturing and suppliers.

Essential qualities include a Mechanical Engineering degree, strong problem-solving, and the ability to work across multiple technical departments.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and first-principles thinking.
• Experience in Formula 1 or top-level motorsport engineering environment.
• Excellent problem-solving, attention to detail and ability to work with complex, integrated systems.
• Collaborative mindset and effective cross-team communication.
• Ability to take ownership of projects and drive work forward independently.
• Proactive mindset, adaptable and willing to learn across Powertrain specialisms.

Responsibilities

• Taking technical ownership ofPowertrain design projects from concept through end of use.
• Producing schemes, designs, models and manufacturing drawings for performance and reliability programmes.
• Working across Powertrain areas including gearbox, hydraulics, clutch, cooling, fuel, pneumatics and exhaust.
• Collaborating with Build, Dyno, Test & Development, R&D, Systems, Controls, Vehicle Performance, Inspection and Quality.
• Applying first-principles thinking to support robust, right-first-time design work.
• Coordinating with in-house manufacturing and external suppliers to balance performance, reliability, cost and delivery.
• Supporting validation, prove-out and feedback from dyno testing, servicing, race events and car build activity.
• Collaborating with Mercedes High Performance Powertrains to deliver best car-level solutions.
• Developing relationships with technical partners to push boundaries and unlock new capability.
• Contributing to longer-term capability projects to improve reliability and engineering performance.
