KPMG's Infrastructure Team in the UK consists of approximately 400 professionals and is recognized as a leading independent adviser in infrastructure. We provide advice on strategic, financial, regulatory, and commercial issues for investments in infrastructure sectors such as Transport, Power & Utilities, and Social Infrastructure both in the UK and internationally.

The utilities sector is a key business area, offering in-depth strategic and technical advice on corporate finance issues, regulatory finance, policy, business planning, and more. We are expanding and seek high-quality candidates to support our Power & Utilities business, focusing on financial and economic analysis, including cost of capital estimation, financeability assessments, risk analysis, financial modeling, investment appraisal, and valuation.

The Role
  • Join the leading provider of regulatory finance consultancy services in the utilities sector.
  • Contribute to the team's regulatory finance business, with opportunities across other sectors.
  • Assist the director in leading and developing the team, identifying new opportunities, and coaching junior staff.
  • Build relationships with key clients and other advisors.
  • Work on high-profile projects such as cost of capital, financeability, risk analysis, and more.
  • Apply structured economic and corporate finance principles creatively to problem-solving.
  • Lead project delivery, delegate tasks, manage client interactions, and track budgets.
  • Mentor and manage junior staff.
  • Maintain understanding of regulatory finance issues in the sector.
The Person
  • Degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or similar; relevant experience considered.
  • Significant experience in the utilities sector, especially in regulatory or corporate finance, with expertise in WACC estimation.
  • Knowledge of UK regulatory regimes and finance mechanics for utilities.
  • Strong economic and financial theory knowledge and application.
  • Proficiency in quantitative analysis tools (e.g., Stata), Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Exceptional written communication skills for high-quality reports.
  • Experience in external client-facing roles and presenting to stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage and mentor project teams.
  • All UK staff without FSA-approved exams must obtain certification.
