We are seeking a Power Systems Senior Technical Advisor to join our Power Networks team within our Net Zero Energy Business. This position can be based in Glasgow or Birmingham, with flexible home-working and office collaboration. We also welcome part-time applicants and those wishing to work from other locations such as Epsom or Leeds.

The UK Energy market is undergoing significant change as the country aims for a net zero carbon target. The sector must adapt to high penetration of modern generation, transmission and distribution technologies, energy storage, and increased demand from electrification of transport and heat. Networks play a crucial role in connecting renewable energy, with transmission network operators securing around £8bn in the RIIO T2 package.

This role offers the opportunity to work at the forefront of the energy sector, deliver impactful projects, and contribute to achieving Net Zero. We promote a collaborative environment where everyone's voice is valued.

Your purpose:

• Deliver innovative projects in the energy sector, leading or contributing as a subject matter expert.
• Provide clients with commercial, technical, and regulatory advice based on your UK energy industry experience.
• Summarize analyses into concise reports and present findings to clients.
• Oversee work from Engineers and Graduate Engineers, reviewing and guiding their work.

What you can bring?

Essential attributes include:

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Good knowledge of electrical codes, standards, and incentives in GB.
• Leadership in engineering projects through asset lifecycles.
• Right to work in the UK.

Desirable qualifications:

• Chartered Engineer (IET).
• Experience in regulatory and technical due diligence of transmission/distribution assets.
• Experience in business plan development or assessment for utilities or innovation projects.
