Level: Grad to Principal level
Location: Staffordshire (Onsite)

Our client is seeking a Power Systems Engineer with expertise in designing and modeling power electronics systems. The role involves developing advanced circuits such as inverters, converters, and motor drives using tools like MATLAB, Simulink, and LTSpice for analysis and simulation. You will contribute to solutions for the Marine, Aerospace, and Defence sectors.
Responsibilities:
- Power Electronics Design: Design high-efficiency circuits (e.g., DC-DC converters, inverters) and select components to meet performance, safety, and cost targets.
- Modeling & Simulation: Use MATLAB, Simulink, and LTSpice to simulate and optimize system performance under various conditions.
- Design Verification: Develop and execute test plans, collaborating with hardware teams to ensure systems meet specifications.
- System Integration: Work with multidisciplinary teams to integrate power electronics into larger systems like motor drives and energy management.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed design documentation, including circuit diagrams and technical reports.
- Continuous Improvement: Keep up-to-date with industry trends to enhance designs and identify opportunities for improvement.
Qualifications/Skills:
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or related field.
- Experience: Proven experience in designing and modeling power electronics systems, including inverters, converters, and motor drives.
- Skills: Proficiency in MATLAB, Simulink, and LTSpice for simulation; strong knowledge of semiconductor devices (e.g., MOSFETs, IGBTs), control algorithms, and circuit analysis.
Preferred:
- Experience in Marine, Aerospace, or Defence industries.
- Knowledge of thermal management, EMC, and magnetic components like inductors and transformers.
